The Eagles men took to the court on Sunday evening to play a friendly against Aylesbury. The Aylesbury team had plenty of height but not the speed, passing and shooting of the Eagles. The Eagles ran out 84-81 winners.
Aylesbury sat in a 2-3 or 3-2 zone the whole game, knowing that they could not compete in a man to man defense. However, this did not affect the Eagles as they passed and cut, zipped the ball around the perimeter, finding players in space to shoot. The mid range and 3 point shooting was excellent, with at least 70% of all shots taken going in. Every single player scored, with some excellent 3s scored by Chris, Cam and Sam.
The pleasing part for coach was we have only been working on the offense for 3 sessions and the men have listened and learned and carried out it out in a competitive game very well. With Captain Tom leading by example, the men played to a high tempo that Aylesbury could not contain.
The blend of youth and experience should allow the men to have a good season.
