A depleted U15 Eagles team lost 43 - 60 in the YBL against a small but rapid Cheltenham Chargers team but kept trying all the way to the end.
Before the start we were missing key players due to covid and injuries and this was exacerbated by some players getting delayed on the way and one late sickness absentee but no problem, as the game was due to start we had 8 shirted players.

We started well in a zone against some small but quick Chargers and took an early lead. The game was close until Mehmet took an elbow to the face and shed quite a bit blood meaning he was out for most of the second quarter ( thanks Jason for patching him up)
Late in the second we were down by a dozen or so but finished well to start the second half 5 points behind.

Chargers pushed hard in the third and re-established a lead rotating 11 well with some good drive and drops to cutters.

We kept going through the 4th and every time it felt
like we were closing the gap Chargers got away again

We left a lot of points on the rim in that game and I’m sure when we play the return leg if we are fit and healthy we can force a different outcome
Nice to see Emma back for the game and special mention for Mehmet who despite having a badly cut lip and probably in some pain but played nearly the entire second half top scoring for ?
