The U16 Conference team took on a beatable West Herts Warriors II on Saturday. The Eagles got out to a slow start and were down 10 in the first quarter and then 20 by the half. The Warriors out-sized and out-muscled the Eagles. We are still learning how to compete against the strongest teams but the Eagles showed in the second half that they can do this. There are many positives from the second half including a fantastic performance by Tom Murray and the all-round play of Hugo. Both boys had stand-out games and are continually improving. Vinay and Oli both shot well and Lorenzo, guesting for the U16s, hit a 3-pointer!
As is the nature of sport there are some lows as well as French hurt his wrist early in the game which hindered him throughout and Alex rolled his ankle in the second half. Both players will be out for a few weeks and we wish them both a quick recovery. Despite being down 20 at the half, we only lost 87-59 and showed great team spirit in the second half. Despite the loss the Eagles are showing improvements every week which will stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.
