our Girls also battled hard in their first NL game & U12s were in action again

It was a nervous weekend for our Coaches especially Coach Andy as our U14NL ballers were out for their first game on Sunday against Bucks Hornets, who the Eagles have come up against at all age levels and they can be tough opponents. Yes, you can see him smiling in the post-game photo :) Here he reports on the games where our boys did us all proud.

"Before the game today, I was very nervous for the team, but they came out of the blocks very strong and maintained a high level of work rate throughout the game. They showed a level of play that I had not seen in training and the intensity from all 9 players was immense.

Special mentions to Jason and Sam who had to mark a player at least a foot taller than them and they did a very good job containing him. Harvey and Matty kept the play moving on offence and all players were able to expose gaps in the Hornets defence.

Also a shout out to Ben who scored 4 points and must be one of the youngest Eagles players to score in a NL game!

The Eagles had good home support who cheered them on to a great victory. Final score 64-53"

Meanwhile, at Barking and Dagenham Thunder, our Girls U18NL team stepped out on the court for the first time. With 3 female coaches backing them, the Girls fought a hard battle. Coach Christie said: "They did us proud - played with so much heart and passion! They competed so well and we’re up for the challenge of this new level!" It was a tight game, with the girls going down to a close loss.

On Saturday, our U12s travelled to Oxford Brookes University for the new Development League. Coach Karen was in charge and reported back: "10 determined faces.
Gritting teeth, working hard & keeping their heads up til the whistle - can’t ask for much more than that. So, huge gratitude for your tough attitude team.Bring it on at training next Saturday?"

And later on Saturday, we had Eagles vs Eagles as we pitted the U16s vs U16s Coached by Chris and Steve. After a frenetic couple of hours, Coach Steve commented:
"Can just say great game, great team spirit and a very competitive game. Thanks to all who helped."

Phew! that was our weekend - how was yours?
