Watch out for the Eagles #EaglesNationUK

Eagles U16 Blue played against Gloucester Saxons in a pre season warm up, triumphing 47-73 in the end. The first half was very close with the Saxons leading for a long period until the Eagles regrouped to take the half 34-32.
Everyone contributed to the victory with notable scoring performances from Sam H and Harry L.

It was a double for the Eagles as U16 Black went on to beat Saxons 47-80. Eagles led all the way in this game and it was great performance from 4 team members who came up from the U14s last year. Playing for the U16s for the first time, Alex, Felix, Dom and Vinay all put in excellent performances and worked well with the “veterans” :)

U16NL have their first games vs Farnborough Phantoms next Saturday - Good Luck Lads!

The U14s NL team took part for the first time in the Hoopsdream Tournament at the ACS International School in Cobham.. This was the first run-out for the 2018/19 Eagles U14 NL team. The games were shortened to 2 x 12 minute halves. This tournament provided a great opportunity to see how the team will match up against some of the teams in their league this season.

The first game was against a young Surrey Rams 2 team. After a slow start the speed, power and shooting of the Eagles soon proved to much for the Rams. All the Eagles scored and new players Kaden and Olly B played very well in their first ever game for the Eagles. Harry led the offence with his explosive drives. The Eagles ran out easy winners. It was great to see all players contributing and scoring in this game.

The second game was against a big and strong Woking Blackhawks. The Eagles started slowly and let the game slip away from them. In the second half the Eagles competed much better and came right back at the Blackhawks. It was too little too late but a gritty and determined Eagle’s second half is worthy one note.

After these 2 games the Eagles qualified for the 3rd/4th playoff game against Brighton Cougars. After a long wait in a hot and sticky sports centre the Eagles came out very lethargic and were without the influential Harry M. After 2 games it was clear that the Eagles were tired and were lacking energy. However, Malachi and French showed that they had worked very hard over the Summer as they were both able to put in excellent performance in every game. Once again the Eagles rallied in the second half and were able to push the Cougars all the way but finished a close second.

Overall, the tournament was good learning curve for the Eagles and provided some invaluable experience for new players Kaden and Olly B. The stand out players were Malachi and French who both performed at a consistently high level. Another stern test at Winchester next Saturday.
